I grew up in Cecilia, Louisiana in the 50s and 60s when French was the first language of most of my classmates. That was an unfortunate period of time when you were not allowed to speak French at school. Fortunately, that is no longer the case and preservation of the Cajun-French language is deemed to be important. I will proudly wear my beautiful and comfortable Mosquito Tee with the hope that my friends in North Florida, where I have lived for over 40 years, will ask me to translate it and therefore give me the opportunity to talk about Acadiana and it's thriving Cajun culture.
